Hi,
RailEurope-gcc.com is offering free extra days for Swiss Travel Pass. How reliable is it, should I buy the pass from there or stick to the official SBB website?
TIA

Rail Europe is a reputable company as are all the retailers listed at http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price.

Nothing at all unreliable about RailEurope. If you qualify for a promotion I would grab it! 🙂
Removed userParticipant72625 posts5 June 2018 at 11:35:38 #887392Thanks for the assurance. Though I am eligible for the promo, I am unable to grab it because the system says the pass will be physically mailed to my addresss and will not be available in e-format. (This is despite the fact that the offer is available only for print at home passes…strange but true!!!)
ArnoModerator15484 posts5 June 2018 at 12:04:26 #887393Hi Sumitsg79,
That’s weird! I had no trouble selecting the 5 day 2nd class pass and reaching the payment page with print@home option. I filled out Qatar as the country.
Be careful not to select an “x days within one month” pass. That’s a Swiss Travel Pass Flex, which is not being promoted and can’t be printed at home (yet).

ArnoModerator15484 posts5 June 2018 at 18:10:16 #887396Can you explain what exactly you do? Which exact product do you pick and which links do you click? Once I know what’s wrong I might be able to pass this on to them to fix it.
The 4-year old does not need any pass or ticket. Just make sure you have a passport on you at all times so you can show its age and the fact that the kid is yours.
There is another promotion too now by the way: http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/promo-80-or-95-discount-on-rail-passes-tickets.
Removed userParticipant72625 posts5 June 2018 at 18:54:11 #887397We used Rail Europe to buy the pass online from the U.S., as the sbb site would not accept our credit card. My husband wanted to get them before we left to avoid long lines. But I felt it would have been cheaper to buy in person as the exchange rate was better now than when they set their U.S. prices earlier in the year.
We did not get extra days.
Removed userParticipant72625 posts5 June 2018 at 19:01:29 #887398Hi (Arno),
I completed the transaction but there is another problem now. The extra days offer is applicable to print at home tickets only (that’s what I understand from the title) but there is no print option in the confirmation mail. Rather, it has a collect from shop option (Dubai address). I stay in Qatar and this option will not work out in any case. I don’t know how this happened but am now desperately looking for a solution. Can you suggest something??
Thanks
ArnoModerator15484 posts5 June 2018 at 20:14:40 #887399Hi Phyllis,
That sounds like you tried to order from the domestic SBB site. They have a web shop for tourists which is better and little or no payment issues: https://shop.switzerla ndtravelcentre.com/#/e n/home. This shop link can be found on all our pass pages. You may want to try that option next time. Prices are the same as at the station but you’ll save time and have an electronic backup of the pass you wouldn’t have otherwise.
ArnoModerator15484 posts5 June 2018 at 20:17:34 #887400Hi Sumit,
That’s unfortunate! I’d suggest to call them via +971-4-2956777 during office hours. I’m sure they can solve this for you. Please let us know how it went.

The alternate webshop that you mentioned does not carry the promotion for free day. Sumit is right in the fact that the GCC website is not giving print at home option but rather free collection from shop in dubai. For residents of qatar, what would you advise.. how to get the promotion benefit for free day with print at home option?
Removed userParticipant72625 posts6 June 2018 at 14:53:25 #887402Hi Arno,
The matter has been sorted out. I called the number (thanks for that) and they told me it will be emailed to me. I received the email with the printable pass a little while ago – so that’s a relief. Just one more thing – though I had mentioned about our 4 yr old kid (with name) while booking, they have not sent any family card for him. Is that ok or should I take it up with them?
Thanks and regards,
Sumit
Removed userParticipant72625 posts6 June 2018 at 14:57:20 #887403Hi,
I have received the printablr pass by email. So that issue has been sorted out. If you have opted for the extra day offer then I think print at home is the only option. What creates the confusion is that the confirmation mail does not specify that the actual pass will be emailed within 2-3 days. That one line will solve such problems. Rail Europe should take note of this.
Regards,
Sumit

Your 4 year old child doesn’t need a rail pass or ticket so you are all set to go!
Removed userParticipant72625 posts6 June 2018 at 17:14:17 #887405Ok.. Thanks..so no family card needed, too?
Removed userParticipant72625 posts6 June 2018 at 17:57:12 #887406Only if you have another child between 6 and 15.
Removed userParticipant72625 posts6 June 2018 at 18:04:50 #887407No, we don’t..and the only one is 4 years old.
Thanks for the assistance
