We couple will be traveling from Milan to Lucerne on 12 October and also plan to buy 2 day Tell pass. Please suggest:

    1. Upto which train station should I book tickets from Milan so that afterwards we can travel by our Tell pass. Is it Arth or Arth- Goldou or any other station nearest to Milan

    2. Or if we plan to travel by Gothard express, than how to book and what are the charges and which station from Milan.

    3. Suggest the best way as we want to visit Mt Rigi / plaltus / titlis after hotel check in on same day. So that we can make best use of pass on its day one. please suggest accordingly.

    4. Or may be Bus route will be better and from where.

    Thanks

By fast Eurocity train the first station in Tell Pass territory will be Arth Goldau.

If you come over the old Gotthard mountain route the first Tell Pass station is Göschenen but the ticket will be much more complicated to buy

    Hi Tierod,

The fastest trains don’t stop until Arth-Goldau as 1960man says, so you would only use the pass from there. But you can go straight up to Mount Rigi from there, then to Vitznau and by boat to Lucerne. All of that is included.

If you take the scenic Gotthard Panorama Express route, the Tell-Pass already works from Göschenen. Tickets from Milan to Göschenen can be purchased online, e.g. via https://www.trainline. eu/search. You can stay seated in Göschenen and continue entirely by train or take the more scenic boat ride from Flüelen.

    There is no bus route.

Thanks a lot Arno. Good suggestion that we can visit Mt Rigi before check in to our hotel.

But we will be carrying our luggage along. So still is it advisable to do so. Is there any luggage storage facility at the station. How to manage as pur going to Rigi and back to Lucerne will be different routes as per your advise.

Please suggest as rightly understandable that we will be saving lot of time by doing so.

    Thanks

Not a good idea to take luggage on mountain railway excursions

Yes, I’d leave your luggage at your Lucerne hotel or at Lucerne train station in a locker. http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/practical/luggage
