We’re planning on this tomorrow but leaflet says book the outside platform ride online but I can’t find it on any website. We already have the basic ticket so just want to add this at 5CHF pp .

    Hi Chez60,

My understanding is it isn’t bookable ahead of time – you just have to pay an extra 5chf (when you are there) if you want to ride on the open top roof.

Thank you. We were a bit confused as the leaflet about it said book on line.

It is brand new and perhaps is not yet online but will be (or I’ve missed where on their website you can book). It just started operating earlier this month.

If you get the chance do let us know how you found the process of buying the extra ticket when you are there! 🙂

I think the Schilthorn can be booked online. Just wondering how people book it if the weather is unpredictable.

For info and to answer my own question – we did this trip today and you can purchase the Royal Ride upgrade ( if you already have a cable car ticket ) at the cable car station. There is an electronic board indicating availability at which times. Top tip is that we purchased ours from our campsite which with our guest card was only 16 CHF instead of 23 at the station so even with the additional 5 CHF we still saved. 🙂

sorry for the dumb question – what is a ‘campsite’ in your case? We are going to be staying at one the Wengen hotels in a few weeks – is that consider to be a ‘campsite’?

A campsite is a place to camp, to put up your tent for example. Or rent a caravan, etc. Your hotel may sell tickets too.

We’re at Jungfrau camping so cabins, tents, mobile homes etc. Presume hotels will also have some form of guest discount card.
