    Hello All!

Could you please help me to make a choice between panoramic trains in Switzerland? 🙂

We arrive to Milan at the first stage of the trip.

As we read the Glacier Express is a “visit card” of Switzerland, so we decided to travel by it. But, maybe GE is only “the most promoted” option and you can advise us another panoramic train that may be not so well-known but really worth taking a journey? It’s so hard to make a choice, there are so many beautiful places!

Originally, we are going to travel from Milan to St.Moritz, stay for one night in St.Moritz and leave the next day with Glacier Express to Zermatt. Then use just regular local Swiss trains to get to Lausanne. Our friends live near Lausanne , so we will stay at their house and travel everywhere else from Lausanne. How would be easier and cheaper to get to St. Moritz from Milan – maybe you can share some ideas with us? 🙂

Also, can we buy Swiss pass straight in St.Moritz? Where are they being sold?

We decided to buy Swiss pass for 4 days. First day to use for panoramic train. Could you advise what another places we can to see next three days?

May be somebody visited the most famous tops of mountains – Matterhorn, Jungfrau, Pilatus etc. is it worth going there and paying so much money for that? 🙂 or is there any alternative???

We will very appreciate your any help!

Hello Victoria and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

You should buy a Swiss Travel Pass on-line for convenience. See http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price. It will cover you from the Swiss border (eg Chiasso if you go to Lugano, or Tirano if you go there).

From Milan you can go to Lugano and catch the Bernina Express Bus to Tirano. Then Bernina Express Train to St Moritz (change at Pontresina) or Chur. From there Glacier Express to Zermatt.

But when are you travelling? Are you doing much train travel in Italy?

Sorry viktoriia, auto-correct changed your name on me. 😇

I forgot to mention you can’t get to the top of the Matterhorn. The closest you will get is Gornergrat (http://www.myswissalps.com/go rnergrat).

While staying in Lausanne you can easily travel on another scenic train, the Golden Pass Line (http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass). With a Swiss Travel Pass you could go to the Jungfrau Region on that train and reach the top of Schilthorn for free (http://www.myswissalps.com/sc hilthorn). I’ve never been to Junfraujoch. I had the chance but decided my money was better spent elsewhere.

Pilatus is at Lucerne which is a well out of your way.

For more information on the Glacier Express see http://www.myswissalps.com/gl acierexpress and for the Bernina Express see http://www.myswissalps.com/be rninaexpress.

    Dear rockoyster,

Thank you very much! We arrive on Milan on 26 of April, the main goal is to visit our friends, then to see the beautiful places in Switzerland! In Italy we will be only two days, so firts day – to see Milan, and on the second day – we dont know yet, may be you can advise me???

What seats are better to reserve in Glacier express on the direction from the St.Morits to Zermatt?
