How to connect Swiss Travel Pass to mobile apps?

    Hello,

I just bought a 15 days Swiss Travel Pass for our family of 3 (me, wife & son) through the myswissalps link (Switzerland Travel Centre) for our holiday trip in April 2023.

Now how can I add or connect it to my mobile apps? In my emails from the STC, there are only printable tickets, so where do I find the customer number?

FYI, I already installed an SBB Mobile and created an account.

Another question, suppose I want to book a train ticket from Milan to Interlaken, will I get get some reductions from my Swiss Travel Pass compared to regular tickets?

Thanks in advance for any helps.

    Hi JimmyG,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! There’s no need, nor is it possible, to connect the Swiss Travel Pass to an app. The pass is ready to use. Keep the PDF on your phone, you don’t need anything else. Please find details under “How to start using your electronic pass” on http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/howtouse. Also see “Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Pass and SwissPass” on http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/details. References you may see to the SwissPass are not relevant, that’s a pass for Swiss residents. As a tourist you’ll travel with the Swiss Travel Pass.

For Milan to Interlaken you only need a ticket for the Italian part of the route, which is Milan to Domodossola. Please find such tickets here: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/italy/price. The Swiss part of the route is free with your pass, so you can simply stay on the same train to continue your trip.

    Enjoy your stay!

    Thanks for the information, Arno.

So basically I need to buy the Milan – Domodossola ticket, and then just keep watch of all the local Swiss train schedule through the Swiss Mobile apps and hop on any seats available without having the need to pay attention on certain carriage or seat number, is it right ?

We are also planning to ride the Glacier Express route (from Brigg to St Moritz), does paying the reservation seat worth it ? (as this will be our first time experiencing this route).

Does the reservation seat refundable ? (Because as of now we are not guaranteed the schengen visa yet)

Thank you for any informations that can help.

    Hi JimmyG,

Correct, you need an additional ticket Milan-Domodossola. Reservations for Swiss trains are rarely needed so yes, you can just hop on with your Swiss Travel Pass and find an empty seat. How this works is also described at https://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/howtouse.

Just one nuance: reservations for the Swiss leg of EC trains from Milano to Brig or Spiez are optional, so you may see that a few seats are reserved. Those seats have a label or an electronic display indicating the reservation. But even if you accidentally take a seat reserved by someone else, you just get up and find a new seat. There’s usually plenty of room left.

Yes, in my opinion the Glacier Express seat reservations are well worth it. I love the comfortable interior and large windows, and the on-board catering makes it extra special. Dining with great views is very pleasant :-). You’d have to change trains a couple of times if you’d do the same route by regular trains. Please find some differences described under “Regular trains versus Glacier Express” at http://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress. More about the reservations is available at http://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/tickets.

Seat reservations are mostly not refundable. So you’d best order them as soon as you’re sure about your visa. Information about obtaining your Schengen visa can be found at https://www.myswissalps.com/visa.
