Hi, first of all I want to thank this forum for giving us all the information we need to plan our trip to Switzerland. We’ ve already got the tickets from Argentina to London for October. But as we want to go to Switzerland and enjoy the panoramic trains, we’ll really appreciate if you can help us to plan the way of going right there from London with enough time to take the Glacier and the Gotthard Express before they stop working in October 14th. We’ll arrive London by October 9th. What city of Switzerland can we first travel to so as to take the Glacier express and then the Gotthard Express?? (or the other way round, the sooner the better…). We don’t want to lose the opportunity to travel by those panoramic trains. Of course we also want to take the Bernina and the Golden Express, but as far as we know, we can take them after October 14th. Our trip would continue from Switzerland to Venice. So any suggestions on how to do it would be great!

    Hi Nataguzman,

Glad to hear you like it here! I’d recommend to read our Glacier Express and Gotthard Panorama Express pages and check the route maps on those pages. Then see which legs of those routes would work best for you and check against the timetable.

One way would be to take trains from London to Paris to Zurich to Chur on the 10th. Then the Glacier Express to Zermatt on the 11th. Then to Luzern on the 12th, various routes possible. Finally the Gotthard Panorama Express to Lugano on the 13th. Then proceed to Venice from there.

Thanks a lot Mr. Arno. Another thing We need to know just in case is about the other regional trains that make the same panoramic routes as the Glacier and the Gotthard. I mean in case we can’t reach them before October 14th. Can you suggest us any page or thread to read about it?

You’re welcome! The above linked pages provide all information to plan these train rides. Be sure to read all tabs including the Route tab of each train. The timetable shows all available trains, not just the expresses.
