Hello everybody! We are a family of 4 with the kids who are 7 and 5 years old. We are travelling to Switzerland and in a spam of 4 days we would love to visit these beautiful places: Jungfraujoch - Mt. Pilatus (from Lucerne with the boat )-Gelmer Funicular and Zermatt. We are looking at the "Half fare card" but we are not sure that it is our best option to save money and be able to visit all of these places. We are from Canada so we are trying to save some $. Please help us!

Thank you very much,

Cristiano and Family

Hello Cristiano, and thanks for joining MySwissAlps!

Will you be doing all traveling by public transport? In that case you may want to look into a 4 day Swiss Travel Pass, since you mention destinations that are quite far apart and thus require long train trips. Regular train and boat trips will be for free; mountain trains and cable cars are discounted. It's a very convenient way of traveling, since you won't need to buy many additional tickets, as you will have to do with the Swiss Half Fare Card.

The Swiss Half Fare Card is certainly an alternative. In both cases, children will travel along for free on all trips with the free Swiss Family Card.

Which option is cheaper should be calculated as explained in this guide. You may also like our further tips on saving money.

You'll be busy. The kids will be tired.
