I know this can’t be as hard as I am making this. Here is what I need help with. We are a group of 7. 2 seniors, 2 adults, 2 students (20 and 18) and 1 15 year old. We need transportation for the following journeys starting and ending in Interlaken.

    Interlaken to Harder Klum

    interlaken to Schilthorn

Interlaken to Brunnen (Swiss Army place)

Interlaken to Giessbach (boat) funicular to waterfall, boat to Brienz and boat back to Interlaken

i would like to have first class tickets with reserved seats as there are so many of us it would just be less stressful. Can someone please help me figure out if I should be buying the half fare card or the Swiss travel pass? Also, where do I buy them from. I would really like to have all the logistics figured out before we go. Our trip is from July 27-August 3. Thank you in advance!!!! I’m feeling very overwhelmed trying to figure all of this out. If I could hire a driver for the week, I would just to not have to figure all of this out!

Hi Lhoffman5 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

    • Do note that there isn’t 1st class on trains or cable cars into the mountains (you also can’t drive there).
    • You can travel in 1st class and reserve seats from Interlaken to Luzern. Then from Luzern you can take a 45 minute train ride or take a 2 hour boat trip to Brunnen on Lake Lucerne (boats have 1st class as well and on the top deck so well worth it).
    • The best rail pass will depend on how many trips you will take. For 8 days, the Swiss Travel Pass is the easiest option by far – it may not be the cheapest but that depends on each day’s trips. Are those the only trips you will do in Switzerland?
You can buy the Swiss Travel Pass online here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ price – it can be emailed to you and printed at home (you then have a back up copy to print again if you lose a pass for example).

Here are a few links to read through:

    1. Lake Luzern: https://www.myswissalp s.com/boatlakelucerne
    2. Lake Brienz: https://www.myswissalp s.com/boatlakebrienz
    3. Reservations on Interlaken to Luzern (part of the Golden Pass route): https://www.myswissalp s.com/goldenpass/ticke ts
    4. Swiss railways timetable for all schedules (trains, cable cars, boats): https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable

I hope that helps make things a little clearer – there are many options in Switzerland for traveling around and rail passes for sure. Let us know if you have more questions.
