    Hello,

We have a scheduled trip to Geneva on June 14. On June 15 we would like to visit the surroundings of Geneva; Montreux, Gruyeres and Bern. At first we had looked to rent a car, but finally, they informed us about ‘Cartes journalières.’ We have been looking through the web page and we have read that to have this one day pass it is necessary to have a valid half rate card, and then, only for one day tourism, we would not mind doing this card and then take out this another one day ticket So, we have been looking at the ‘Carte journalière dégriffée’, (Saver day pass) and we want to know what conditions this card has, if it would also be valid for a whole day, throughout Switzerland (especially the cities that we want to see Montreux, Gruyeres and Bern) and without having to have the half-rate card. Besides that, ask also if it is valid only for Swiss citizens or also for tourists (as in our case), and if it is only in low season, or is it all year round.

    Thank you,

    Greetings.

Hello Maria and Welcome to MySwissAlps

The Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass and bit.ly/2rkekat) is available for tourists all year round. The price increases closer to travel time usually.

And it is not necessary to have the half-rate card, right?

And is it valid for the route we want to take? Geneva-Montreux-Gruyeres

    Hello Mariar rion 1,

Correct, the Saver Day Pass DOES cover the are you are referring to and you DON’T need a Swiss Half Fare Card. (The Swiss Half Fare Card would simply give you a discounted price on the Saver Day Pass.)

Check the map in this link to see what is covered:

    Best,
    Steph

Ok, so you think it’s a good option? Or would there be some cheaper option?

    Hi Maria,

    Yes, I do believe so!
To crosscheck with regular prices for that journey search your trip with our timetable link and then make sure you “double” the prices you see in the SBB shop, as the default setting is the discounted fare.
