    Hello all 🙂

My name is Pedro, from Spain and I just moved to Zurich for working.

This easter I will doing a 4 days motorhome road trip around some areas close to Zurich looking for some mountain/outdoors/lakes views and easy trekkings.

Initially, I’m thinking to go to the Interlaken area and spend most of the time around all the different spots, but I have been also recommended the Klöntalersee lake close to Zurich, maybe to spend a day there.

I am wondering to start in Zurich, go to Klöntalersee (Glarus) and then going directly to Interlaken through Linthal and Spiringen so I don’t have to come back again.

My question is: Would be the Passuebergang be open those days? I have check on different websites but Im a bit confused – Im new on this 🙂

Anyway, if you have any suggestion or idea to enjoy the beautiful country with the caravan (what not to miss around Interlake area, or in the way to Interlaken) we would be very grateful.

    Best, Pedro

    Hi Pedro-

The Klausen Pass is typically open from July to November.

A check of the SBB timetable shows bus service from Linthal to Springen on July 10. 2019.

There is none in early June or April.

    That is a good clue.

In mid-April, alpine regions at 2000 meters ( The Klausen Pass is at 1948) are typically snow covered and roads are not kept open.

I drove it once in that direction many years ago, on a rainy, cloudy day. I found it to be very stressful, in a modest sized rental car. Much more difficult then the other Swiss Alpine passes that I have driven. I’d not want to do it in a motor home.

You will not have to consider my opinion in April. The pass is closed.

Here is some information about the region near Interlaken:

Thank you very much, Slowpoke. Very appreciated.

Then, I will go directly to the Interlaken area (not to the city but the towns around: Grinderwald, Lauterbrunnen, etc…).

Have you ever been around there? Do you have any special recommendation we shouldn’t miss?

    Thank you,

    Pedro

    Ooops-

I forgot to welcome you to My Swiss Alps.

Check the home page tabs for “Where to Go” for information about popular regions.

I added a couple of links. Recheck my post again.

April is low season in the alpine areas. Bad snow, no skiing. Trails at altitude are snow covered. No hiking.

No skiing; no (or very limited) hiking;therefore, few customers.

Many hotels and restaurants take a break.

In the valley south of Interlaken you can only drive as far as Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald. Hgher areas are car-free.
