November and early December are low season, when staff take a break between summer and winter and maintenance is carried out in advance of the ski season. However, life goes on and there will always be something to do or see. Even if you can’t get to some of the ‘tourist traps’ that ‘the world and his wife’ visit you will be able to see the ‘real’ Switzerland just by travelling around on the transport network, for example:
1) all the main line railway lines run all year round (Brunig Pass aka Luzern – Interlaken Express), Golden Pass Interlaken – Montreux, Lotschberg mountain route Spiez – Kandersteg – Brig; railways to Wengen, Grindelwald and Murren (all three of the latter have to be continuously served as they are ‘proper’ towns not just tourist mountain tops. Plus all the low altitude railway lines that pass through lovely rolling countryside, quaint villages etc
2) There is still a boat once a day on the Thunersee
3) The buses around the shores of the Thunersee run 365 days a year, and even if not open to visit, you can see all the Lake Thun castles from the outside
4) you can visit Bern, a historic city with beautiful architecture
5) there may be Christmas markets already operating
