Hi Kat,
If you leave from Geneva, it makes sense to follow the Golden Pass route from Interlaken. It’s very scenic and offers lots of options for stops and side trips along the way, although your time will be limited to just one day if I’m correct. You may like to get out in Gstaad for short break, or visit the Chillon Castle and/or Lake Geneva after arrival in Montreux.
If you’re heading for Basel, Thun and Bern are great for a break and some sightseeing.
Most via ferrata routes indeed open no earlier than June.

Hi Annika,
I will be arriving at Geneva from Paris via TGV. And from Geneva will be proceeding to Gersau (via Luzern & Brunnen). Since our Swiss Travel Pass will be activated from the same day, is there a Golden Pass line available between Geneva to Luzern ? We don’t to make too many changes since we will be carrying luggages and shifting will be difficult. We anyways have Golden Pass tour in our itinerary from Luzern to Montreaux on another day.

Hi sskundu,
There’s only one Golden Pass line (see myswissalps.com/ goldenpass). If you’ll have a tour on another day you may not want to do it twice, and just take a quicker train from Geneva to Gersau with less changes.
Please post further questions in a new thread as this is not related to Kat’s post. Thanks!

Thank you Anika and Arno for your help,
We looked at your suggestions and decided to go Interlaken to Geneva on the Golden Pass.
Looking at the timetable Golden pass departs Interlaken at 9:08. It arrives at Montreux at 12:13. From there we need to take the train to Geneva to take the TGV to Paris. Questions:
1) There is a Montreux to Geneva departing at 12:23. If we arrive at 12:13 on the Golden Pass Line is there enough time to make the 12:23 departure to Geneva from Montereux?
2) when departing from Geneva to Paris, there are two choices Geneva or Geneva Airport. which one should we choose?
Thank you guys for all your help!
Kat

Hi Kat!
Yes, you should be able to catch the 12.23 train from Montreux. If not, there’s no problem. Trains to Geneva leave several times an hour and you don’t need seat reservations, so you can simply board the next one.
Direct trains to Paris leave from Geneva, not from Geneva Airport.
