We are planning to travel first week of August and would like to know if we should book the rail ticket to Jungfrau mountain in advance or wait till we get there.

What is the ticket price to go from Interlaken to Jungfrau via rail? Where do we park our car?

Shall we get rail pass or just buy an individual ticket.

We would like to go to Zermat as well. Should we go from Interlaken and where do we park the car? What is the ticket price from Interlaken to Zermat? Do we need to book in advance?

We appreciate your cooperation and thank you in advance.

Hi KP and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I would suggest waiting until you are in Interlaken before booking a trip to the Jungfraujoch – make sure the weather looks good there before booking!

You can check prices to Jungfraujoch here. Are you staying in Interlaken? Leave the car parked at your hotel if you have one or, if not, at the rail station.

You can use the Swiss railways timetable here to check the schedules of trains to Zermatt and other destinations and also to find prices as well. You do not need to book any trains in advance (except some people do to Jungfraujoch, and you must if taking a panoramic train).

As to the question of buying a rail pass, it depends on how may trips you plan to take while you are in Switzerland. To know for sure what is the most economical option, you need to plan out your trips and use the excel sheet on our web page on choosing the best rail pass.

    Cheers,
    Lucas
