We are travelling from Interlaken to Lucerne and wish to use the panoramic express. We are travelling in February and was wondering if we need to make a reservation. There will be two of us and taking three pieces of luggage between us. Two questions I have to ask:

    1. If we need to make a reservation, is there a link?

    2. Is the Swiss bahn just as good than panoramic train? As I understand the panoramic train goes a little slower so you are able to look and take photos of the scenery.

    Thanks

    Les

    Hi Sirles,

The panoramic train you are talking about is the Golden Pass – take a look at our page here for all the details you require.

    1. Here’s a link for seat reservations if you choose (not required).
    2. From my recollection there is not too much difference on this line on the speed of the train. The windows are certainly much larger of course for picture taking pictures.

Indeed, all the trains travel at the same speed and all have panoramic windows, so you can’t go wrong.

    Enjoy the trip!

    Thank you for your information.

Because we have 3 pieces of luggage between the two of us, I thought it would be best to reserve our seats on the Interlaken – Lucerne Express. However, all I can find amongst other trips, is the Lucerne to Interlaken but not the other way round.

    Can you help?

    Thanks

    Les

    Hi Les,

You don’t have to reserve seats for this leg. You can store your luggage in the designated areas above or between seats, or at the end of the carriage. If you do want to reserve seats, you can follow the link at the bottom of myswissalps.com/golden pass/tickets. It gets you to the Golden Pass seat reservation website, where you can enter Interlaken as your departure station and Lucerne as your destination.

    Does this help?

    Hi Les-

The partof the Golden Pass Route where the panoramic and special cars can make a substantial difference is the leg from Zweisimmen, especialy from Montbovon, down to Montreux.
