We are a party of 3 adults in possession of Swiss Half Fare cards travelling by train from Interlaken to Milan on Sunday Sept 29. What is the quickest and least expensive train route, with the fewest train changes, to follow from Interlaken to the Swiss/Italian border. What is the closest Swiss station to the Italian border where I might buy tickets for the leg into Milan. You’d best use the timetable at http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable. It provides answers to most of your questions. The timetable shows the quickest routes by default and also provides information on the Milan-Florence segment. If you click on any connection, you’ll get to see lots of details.

As for tickets, this is what you need:

• 50% discounted tickets for the leg Interlaken-Domodossola or Chiasso, depending on the connection you pick, as these are the border towns for the Swiss Half Fare Card validity area (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard/validi ty). You can get such tickets here: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/switzerland halffare, or in Switzerland before boarding;
• regular full fare tickets from Domdossola or Chiasso to Florence: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy.
