Is booking for Gornergrat Bahn necessary?

    From what I can see, the train runs quite often. Is it necessary to book ticket in advance?

    If you mean reserving a seat, I don’t think that’s possible on the Gornergrat train. You can buy a ticket in advance, but (especially if you are only there for one or two days), you can’t be sure ahead of time that the weather will be suitable. There’s no point going up if the Matterhorn is in the clouds.
