I am planning to travel from Vienna to Zurich on an overnight train. This is EN 40462 1.2.. I have three questions.

One, is the Swiss pass Valid on this train?

Second, if yes, Is it also valid for couchettes?

Third, Will I use up the pass for one day or Two days?

Hi Rkaul and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The Swiss Travel Pass would only cover you within the Switzerland portion of the trip (Buchs SG to Zurich) This is a very small portion of the trip and not worth the cost I would think. It would only use up one day of your pass (whatever the date is when you cross the border at Buchs SG).

I would think the cost of the ticket from Vienna to Buchs isn’t much less than all the way to Zurich. You can search for tickets from Vienna to Zurich here.

I wouldn’t use the Swiss Travel Pass for this day unless you have more train travel planned once you reach Zurich?
