I will be traveling from Mürren to Locarno on Sunday 7/22. While checking connection times today, I see that the SBB website warns “delays and cancellations expected” for the Centovalli section of the trip due to strike in Italy. Has anyone dealt with this before? Should I plan to take the alternate and somewhat longer route through Lucerne or is their any hope of the Centovalli Express being in operation?

Hello Willy and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Italian trains are outside our jurisdiction but for what it’s worth the Centovalli route is operated by the local Ferrovia Vigezzina-Centovalli not the Trenitalia National Railway Service. The SBB notice refers specifically to Trenord.

    Maybe contact them at +39 0324 242055 or vigezzinacentovalli.co m/contacts/.

    Hi Willie,

I hope your train trip went smoothly? Were you affected at all on your trip by the strike?
