We only have 3-4 days in Switzerland. We will arrive in Zurich Oct 7 around 12:00 pm. Want to see Zermatt and use scenic/panoramic trains to get there. In Zermatt want to do Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and Gornergrat Railway.(thinking we need a full day in Zermatt?)With only 3-4 nights would we be able to include a trip to Montreux and return to Zurich airport to fly home on 5th day (Oct 11th.) Thinking to buy Swiss Travel Pass to get around easily .

Hi Lindacarol and welcome to MySwissAlps!

You will defiantly need a full day for Gornergrat and the Glacier Paradise. You could travel back to Zurich via Montreux but you won’t have much more than a few hours to explore the town.

From Zurich the train is about 2 hours to Chur and from there you take the Glacier Express to Zermatt (about 6 hours). The train then to Montreux is 2,5 hours and the train to Zurich is then another 3 hours. You can check specific train connections for the dates required here.

For peace of mind, since you are doing this all rather quickly, you may be interested in one of the scenic tours that can be arranged to start from Zurich. You can read more about these tours here.

    Regards,
    Lucas
