Hi, We a family of 4 are planning a trip to Swiss for 8 days in mid April 2020, with the itinerary as below. We also have planned to take 8 days Swiss Pass for the trip.

Arrive in Zurich- 3 days in Lucerne – visit Mt. Pilatus, Mt.Titlis & Mt. Rigi apart from the lake & regular sightseeing places in Lucerne.

3 Days in Wengen (rather than Interlaken) – visit Jangfrau, Grindelwall, Murren, Shilthron & lake Brienz

1 Day in Zemett – Visit Matherhorn & Gornergrat

Travel from Zermatt to Chur in Glacier Express to get a feel of panoramic train ride & Swiss scenery then to Zurich the same day.

1 day in Zurich – visit Rhine falls & other regular sightseeing places in Zurich before proceeding to Germany.

Like your expert advice on the feasibility / feedback on this itinerary that we have planned.

Nice to hear, you are coming to Switzerland with your family. I think you will have an amazing holiday, I like your itinerary.

The only thing I’ve noticed, that you won’t have much time in Zermatt. It takes around 5,5 hrs to get from Zermatt to Chur with the Glacier Express and around 1,5 hours from Chur to Zurich. This means that you should visit Matterhorn and Gornergrat before the night in Zermatt. But from Wengen to Zermatt it takes a bit more than 3 hrs to get. It is manageable but you need to leave really early Wengen to get in Zermatt in time. You can check the timetable at http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.

It is a good idea, that you will buy the Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass), as this is the best and most convenient solution for trains in Switzerland.

Hi Ildiko, Thanks for your feedback & Suggestion. As per your suggestion, will plan to leave early probably in the first train to Zermatt from Wengen so that we could visit both Matterhorn and Gornergrat.
