hi! I was hoping to get some ideas about what we should do – planning a 8 night trip to Switzerland – here is what we have so far and we need help with the last part of our trip –

Flying in and out of Zurich.

Day 1 – Zurich, explore Zurich, sleep in Zurich

Day 2 – train from Zurich to Luzern; explore Luzern; sleep in Luzern

Day 3 & 4 – train from Luzern to Interlaken – stay in Interlaken for 2 nights.

Day 5 – train from Interlaken to Murren – night in Murren

Day6 & 7 – need help here- should we go to Montreux or Bern? I think we want to do the Choc factory in Broc and want to visit Gruyeres. I know we can do both from Montreux and Bern, but what is the better place to visit? I wanted to stay away from 1 night in Montreux and then 1 night in Bern, as Bern is on the way back to Zurich from Montreux, because I think its too much moving, trying to keep it relaxed a little bit the end of the trip. Is there another place we could go instead that’s better (than these 2) that I may be missing from my research? :

Day 8 – end up in Zurich/night in Zurich – leaving early AM the next morning from Zurich

Hi if I were you

I would go straight to Lucerne from Zurich spend days 1 2 3 there. Lots to do and see in Lucerne titlis pilatus City tour etc.

Then go to lauterbrunnen for days 4 and 5 to see the bernese Oberland area. No point in changing to murren stay in lauterbrunnen or grindewald as it is more Central and well connected. And less touristy and beautiful I stayed in lauterbrunnen so I’m recommending you won’t regret it.

Montruex or vevey in days 6 7

Day 8 Zurich for the sight seeing and all

I too would recommend going straight to Luzern for first 2 nights. https://www.myswissalp s.com/lucerne

Then I wouldn’t move from Interlaken to Murren – stay all 3 nights in one town.
Wengen is the favourite town around here. https://www.myswissalp s.com/wengen but Murren (https://www.myswissalp s.com/murren) Lauterbrunnen (https://www.myswissalp s.com/lauterbrunnen) and Grindelwald (https://www.myswissalp s.com/grindelwald) are all great (and nicer, most agree, than Interlaken- https://www.myswissalp s.com/interlaken).

I’d stay in Montreux (https://www.myswissalp s.com/montreux) over Bern (https://www.myswissalp s.com/bern). You can take the Golden Pass train to Montreux and then that day or the next go to the Chocolate and cheese factories. You could stop at Bern for lunch on the way to Zurich as an option or go straight to Zurich (https://www.myswissalp s.com/zurich) to explore on your last day.
