We are going to be in Interlaken for two and a half days around July 10, and our current plan is to go to Jungfrau on one of the days and to take a round trip to Montreaux via Golden Pass line on the other day. I have read in the forum it is advisable to make advance reservations for the Golden Pass line, but it is also advised to wait until the previous day to check the weather before deciding when to go up to Jungfrau. What is my best option here in terms of reservations? Should I make a reservation on the Golden Pass on both days even if I’m only going on one?

Just wait until closer the time and make the call based on the weather forecasts.

You can make reservations for the Golden Pass Line (http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass) including seat selection at bit.ly/2kaq6Rf. Click the “e” for English language top right of the page. (where it says “Sprachwahl: d i f e”). Then change the class of travel, date of travel and start/end points to suit. Reservations are not compulsory but are recommended on the Zweisimmen to Montreux leg (which is where the Panoramic trains operate) during peak tourist season.

We too will be in interlaken in mid July for two full days. We were planning to do Jungfraujoch one day and the Lauterbrunnen/Murren/Gimmelwald/Schilterhorn trip on the other. Is the round trip to Montreaux a good alternative to either of those in the event of poor weather?
