We are visiting Interlaken from 8th till 11th August 2018 and planning to go to one of the mountains (Jungfrau or Schilthorn) with our 4 year old son. Just want to make sure if it will be safe for him to travel to these altitudes and which one is more safe.

Hi Sgurbir1983 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Speaking in general terms, both Schilthorn and Jungfraujoch are very safe, one is not more safe than the other.

As for altitude, the Jungfraujoch is much higher and if there were a change for altitude sickness it would only happen here (if it were to happen). Generally speaking children over 2 shouldn’t have any issue going up to Jungfraujoch.

But anyone, at any age, can get altitude sickness and if it happens it is best to head back down the mountain right away.

To be safe, I’d ask your family doctor.
