Is the cable car from Stechelberg to Mürren free with the Jungfrau Travel Pass? Is it cheaper to purchase the Jungfrau Travel Pass well in advance (now) for travel in mid-May?

    Hello vbtech,

No it is not free. See http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/validity and read the text and check the map.

The price doesn’t vary unless someone offers a rare promotion which would be advertised at http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/promotions.

Thank you… I plan to purchase the Jungfrau Travel Pass online ahead of time for travel in May. Can I purchase the Jungfrautoch (Top of Europe) ticket at the fixed 61 CHF price at the station on the day I wish to travel, or do I need to buy it when I purchase the Jungfrau Travel Pass to get that price?

Buy the Jungfraujoch ticket on the day you travel. You will get the special price if your pass is current. It is not wise to buy that expensive ticket in advance and lock yourself into ascending on a specific day. The weather may not play ball when that day arrives.

    Hello vbtech,

    Thanks for your question!

The Jungfrau Travel Pass does not allow free cable car rides from Stechelberg to Mürren. http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/validity

You should not buy the ticket to Jungfraujoch in advance. It is extremely rare the price will go down further, and there is no need to pre-purchase the ticket as long as you have a valid pass. Dont’t lock yourself on a date, in case the weather is not ideal, the tickets are not refundable. Be sure to check the weather cam the day you plan on going to Jungfraujoch:

Be sure to use the train timetable to help with the travels:

    Good luck!

Hi vbtech! You can indeed get the additional discounted ticket to Jungfraujoch at the spot, but just for your information: RailEurope sells Jungfrau Travel Passes including this ticket. It’s open-dated, meaning you can use the ticket on any day during your Jungfrau Travel Pass validity period. Here’s the link: https://www.raileurope.com/pass/jungfrau. Other retailers are listed at http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrautravelpass/price.

    Hi vbtech-

You’ve gotten plenty of good advice. One other comment …..traffic will be light in May, so you won’t need to worry about standing in line if you wish to purchase on a particular day.
