    Hello

we will buy a ticket to Jungfrau Joch. Are we allowed to get off the train in Eigerwand or Eismeer and then get back on the train after a break?

    Hi Marion,

Everyone is allowed to get off the train at the Eismeer station for about 5 minutes on the way up to the Jungfraujoch. The train doesn’t stop there on the way down.

However, you are not allowed to stay there, but have to reboard the same train and continue to the Jungfraujoch. There is nothing there except the platform, viewing windows and toilets. There is no access to the outside.

If you had a window seat, you will probably find that someone else has taken your seat when you reboard, probably because they can’t remember where they were sitting, or perhaps because they think your seat is better than theirs 😉

However, this does not matter, as the rest of the journey is inside a tunnel, and there is no advantage to having a window seat.

When I last made that trip in late December 2016, the train no longer stopped at the Eigerwand station. According to an online Swiss newspaper, bypassing the Eigerwand station came into effect from 11 December 2016.
