    Hi,

We are seeking advice on travelling around Switzerland in Feb. It seems like the Swiss Travel Pass sounds like the best option.

Does it take us to Jungfraujoch Top of Europe as well?

We don’t want to get the pass & also pay for tour group to take us from Interlaken only to find out the Swiss Travel Pass actually covers for most of that trip to Top of Europe.

Also we are in Switzerland for 8 days with 1st and last day at Zurich, only trip maybe to go to airport while we are in Zurich. Are we better off just getting 6 days pass and paying individual trip from city to airport or should we get an 8 days pass?

We are 1st time travelers to Switzerland.

Hi Vivalicious and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!

With the Swiss Travel Pass you get the following discounts regarding Jungfraujoch:

    • Train from Grindelwald or Wengen to Jungfraujoch: 25% off
    • Train to Grindelwald or Wengen: free
    • Cable car from Grindelwald Terminal to Eigergletscher: 25% off
    • More details about the Jungfraujoch and how to get there: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfraujoch/gettingthere

You find the validity map of the Swiss Travel Pass here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/validity

I recommend buying the 8 days long Swiss Travel Pass as the price difference between the 6 and 8 days passes are just 30 CHF, but if you have a Swiss Travel Pass, you can travel for free in Zurich, also, many-many museums are for free with the Swiss Travel Pass. See the list of museums here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/details.

You can check the prices of the Swiss Traval Pass here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price

Thank you so much. I will read through all the information.

Your website is amazing! Thank you so much, it really helps me & provide me with guidance.

We are coming to Switzerland early Feb, do we need to book tickets now to go to Top of Europe? Or we can take advantage of the discount from the Swiss Travel Pass and purchase tickets when we are in Switzerland?

Thank you for your kind words and appreciation of MySwissAlps.com, we try to support you the best we can! 🙂

Do not buy your Jungfgraujoch tickets now if you are coming in February. You can buy your tickets online, in advance, but before you do that, make sure to check the weather forecast. In case of bad weather you might want to change your itinerary.

I recommend buying your tickets online 1 day before you travel. You can buy it online, using the discount of the Swiss Travel Pass: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfraujoch/tickets.

Buying your Swiss Travel Pass is different, you can buy it now if you want, as there are favorable cancellation conditions: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price.

As you are coming to Switzerland in February, these pages might be useful too:

If you are not skiers, bear in mind that February is peak ski season and any mountain railways serving ski areas will be busy with skiers, snowboarders and their cumbersome equipment

Thank you for your advice. Is that mean there will be limit of how many people can get to Top of Europe? Will the ticket to go to Top of Europe ever sold out?

    Hi Vivalicious,

I’m sure tickets to Jungfraujoch Top of Europe in February won’t sell out as it’s not considered a busy period. However, the Jungfrau region is a winter sports destination and February might see more people and commuters using the local trains and mountain transportation. Most of them won’t be visiting the Jungfraujoch but you will encounter many of them.

    Regards,

    Anna
