My wife and I will be traveling in Switzerland for 2 weeks beginning in mid September. I will be traveling with insulin which requires refrigeration. I believe I can purchase a transporter cooler that can keep it cool while traveling to Zurich and onto Luzern (24 hr. time). Once I arrive to our hotel, it is my understanding that there are no refrigerators in my hotel room or in any of our hotels that we have reserved I have a little pouch that can be used for shorter periods of time in between hotels, but how to keep the medicine cool for 2-3 days while staying in a town?, I have a few questions for anyone who has had a similar experience.

Do most hotels offer to store such medicines in a small refrigerator behind the desk?

Is ice readily available in most hotels such as it is in the US?

Has anyone else experienced this challenge that can share their solutions.

Thank you

Joejax

I did not have to refrigerate any meds during our trip to Switzerland last summer, but I agree that you are unlikely to find many hotels with mini-fridges in their rooms. I think you should have no problem getting ice though; if not from the front desk, then from the bar or restaurant. I think your best bet is to contact the individual hotels and explain your situation and they should be able to tell you what your options are.

Hi Joejax,

Some hotels provide in-room minibar, which is basically a small fridge you can use to store your medications. Be sure to check with your hotel whether this is available. Another solution would be to use a kuhlbox or a portable cooler. This can be purchased from the supermarket.

Anna
