I am going to be in Zermatt (on Saturday & Sunday 29th/30th April) and Interlaken (on bank holiday Monday ) on the Labour Day weekend.

    My questions are:-

    1. Will visiting Klein Matterhorn and Gornergrat trips be very crowded? Should I book (Saturday/Sunday)? Or go very early.

    2. Especially in Interlaken on Monday evening, will restaurants be open? But also weekend evenings in Zermatt? (Or should I organise a picnic???!!)

    Thanks. Anne.

    Hi AnneC,

    1. I would go quite early, I would expect crowds to be a little larger yes. It isn’t just a Swiss holiday, It is also in Germany and I think Austria.
    2. Some restaurants will be open but some some will be closed for sure on the Labour day in Interlaken. I think most will be open on the weekend evenings in Zermatt (very touristy town).
A back-up idea is to go to a grocery store (train station location only will be open on Labour day) such as Migros and buy some pre-made salads/sandwiches.
