    Hi,

We are planning on arriving in Zurich on Friday, July 17 and would like to go to Lake Como. We would like to go first on the Bernina Express on Sat, July 18 and continue to Lake Como from there. Is the most logical way to do this via Tirano or via ferry from Lugano. How much time does it take to get from Tirano or Lugano to Como, and should we stay in Como or another town? Will plan to sleep over for a night or two and head back into Lucerne… Thank you in advance

    Hi myveen1,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! You can do the full Bernina Express ride: first the train from Chur to Tirano, then the bus to Lugano. From there you can take a train to Como in about 45 minutes. I don’t know whether another town is better as it’s in Italy which is not my field of expertise. Please see here for all Bernina Express details.

From Como you can take a train to Bellinzona and follow the Wilhelm Tell Express route to Lucerne.
