Hi Ouseler,
When are you traveling again?
You can check the timetable for transit options: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable
Search Interlaken West (See) to Oberhofen am Thunersee
Once on the SBB site it will give you train or bus options by default as they are quickest. Hit advanced search and de-select all modes of transport except ship.

Depends where you are staying in Unterseen. You may be staying right next to a route 21 bus stop. Bus route 21 goes direct from Unterseen to Oberhofen, and the lake boats run from Interlaken West landing stage around the lake to Oberhofen and Thun. You could use bus one way and boat the other.
21 Bus:

Don’t forget there’s a nice castle at Spiez too, short walk from the landing stage.
Overall, Lake Thun is dead easy to travel round, with the main intercity railway from Thun via Spiez and the south side of the lake to Interlaken West – in addition to the bus and boat mentioned above.

Hmmm. No one seems to answer your big question. Yes, I think you can do Oberhofen and Thun Castle on the same day. Early start. We also stay in Unterseen and use the 21 Bus. You can pick up the 21 Bus near Lucky Ming for example, get off at Oberhofen Castle. Tour the castle, get back on the bus and continue to Thun. The walk from the train station to the castle isn’t too far. Tour the castle then if you’re early enough you can take a ferry back to Interlaken West. We’ve done it. Biggest problem is the last ferry leaves Thun too early in the afternoon for some visits. But the 21 Bus runs every thirty minutes until about 9 PM.

I don’t think bus 21 runs as late as 9 p.m. all way to Interlaken. I thought last bus was more like 6 p.m. Check timetable. Trains run much later though.
