Hi! Will be visiting In Spring and would prefer April. However, I want to make sure the lakes are open for the complete paddle boat tours. Does anyone know the exact dates these lakes are open?

There are boats all year round but the Paddle steamer (one only on each lake) only operates early May – early October (September on Lake Brienz)

Thank you for the help! Do you know if we can still tour the castles, etc. if we’re there in April?

Hi Rlearley54, and welcome to MySwissAlps! Please find information and links to timetables at

This website might be of help when planning your castle visits: http://www.interlaken.ch/en/e xperiences/culture-customs/castles-on-lake-thun. You’ll carefully have to check opening dates and hours for each castle. I think some of them are only accessible from mid-May.

April is fine for tourists sites, it is just lake boats that tend to operate less until the ‘warmer months’ come round
