    Hi,

Does anyone has a summary of the last transport timing {train/cable car/gondola etc} leaving towns like eg. Lauterbrunnen/Wengen/Grindelward? Does it mean that if I am based out of Interlaken, then I will loose the opportunity to do some late evening hikes around these town, since sun is setting quite late in summer? Do people still do such hikes in the evening (between 6-9pm) before sunset when one choose to stay in towns like Wengen? appreciate some advice. Tq

The last trains from high up the mountain as are usually early – mid evening, but the last trains from Wengen and Grindelwald are around 23.00 – 23.30

    Hi Dennis yap99,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Mountain transportations specifically cable cars and gondolas usually operate from 8 am to 6pm. Trains and buses between towns operate longer. You can check the schedules here: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable. So if you are planning hikes in the mountains such as on Grindelwald First or Männlichen, take note of the cable car operating hours.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hi Dennis yap99,

Yes, it’s common to see people hike all day in the summer especially within the Jungfrau region. If you’re hiking in the mountains and dependent on mountain transportation, you need to plan and time your hikes carefully so you don’t miss your connections. But in some places, if you miss the last cable car, there is always the option to hike down. In summer the days are long so this option is reasonably feasible.

    Regards,
