Hi, we are planning to visit Mt.Rigi on 8th Dec 2017 early morning from lucern. We will be taking 1:05pm train from lucern to interlaken on the same day. So we only have few hours, is it doable?

Can pls assist us the fastest way to visit Mt.Rigi & the timetable. We are traveling with swiss pass so we dont want to miss it.

Hi Swissdec2017,

The timetable for Swiss railways gives you the fastest options for your trips just enter Rigi (kulm) and Luzern on the timetable and pick your preferred departure or arrival time and date.

You’ll find the latest train you can take is the 11:04 train from Mt. Rigi to Luzern (arriving 12:41). The earliest you can arrive on Rigi is 08:45, leaving Luzern at 07:18.

So you get about 2 hours at the top of the mountain which is fine for most people if you are just exploring the top – but it depends on your plans.

If we are going to check out early & store our suitacase in lucerne locker. By the time we come down from Mt.rigi is already 12.41am. So with only 25minutes left, is it possible for us to take the suitacase & catch our train at 1.05pm.

Is the locker far ?

That should be lots of time for you yes. The lockers are on the main floor near the Die Post (post office, yellow signs). You can find station information and a PDF map here.

Is it possible if we take 7:18am train to rigi from lucern, then come down via Vitznau & boat back to lucern on 8th dec 2017? Can i have the boat timetable?

We are thinking to take later train to interlaken if we decide to take the boat ride. Is the boat ride at vitznau worth the time?

Yes, I would say the boat ride is worth it. The schedule will not be very frequent in December so you need to plan carefully. Or start with the boat perhaps as the train operate more frequent.
