Hi All,
I would be in Lucerne from 24th November (1600hrs) to 26th November (2000hrs).

Please let me know if the below itinerary is possible to be done, especially with the weather conditions.

1. Lucerne lake cruise on 24th November. Are the cruise boats/ships equipped with heating? Also, would it be advisable to do a 1800hrs cruise given the weather?

2. 25th November. Mt. Titlis excursion. I plan to leave from Lucerne by around 0900hrs. By what time can I come back, spending good enough time on top and doing a few activities? Would you suggest I book the tickets right away or can this be done on 25th at the location itself?

3. Depending on when I'm back, please suggest which other place can I visit on 25th?

4. 26th November. I plan to travel to Stanserhorn. What time can I return if I leave from Lucerne by 1000hrs?

5. I need to catch a train by around 2000hrs from Lucerne to Zurich. Is a let evening travel advisable?

I wish to also visit Lauterbrunnen. Please suggest when should I do this.

For the above itinerary, I also plan to buy the 3 day Swiss Travel Pass. Should I buy the pass right away or can I buy it from Basel station on 24th?

Also, once the pass is bought, do I need to make any reservations on the trains which are covered or 50% discount?

Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Hello Nitesh,

Welcome to MySwissAlps!

1. The boats do have heating for the covered areas but there are no outdoor heating on deck. Thus, taking a boat trip in the evening might be too cool and dark outside.

2. You can buy the tickets in advance but you don't have to,please read:

www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis/tickets

Be sure to check this:

www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis

3. You should be able to spend 3 hours or so on Mount Titlis, from there you can head back to Lucerne, please take a look at the below links to help you plan.

Please check this out:

4. Here is a timetable for train for your reference to help plan your daily trip, and a description of how to reach Stanserhorn:

5. You can catch the train from Lucerne to Zurich, and the duration is approximately 1 hour. Please refer to the timetable I mentioned.

Here are some links for Lauterbrunnen to give you ideas:

I would advise to buy the ticket ahead of time to make your traveling one less thing to think about. Here is the link about the Swiss Travel Pass:

Once you purchased the Swiss Travel Pass for 3 consecutive days, there is no need to make reservations on regular trains and mountain routes. Seat reservation is only necessary for a few special panoramic trains: https://www.myswissalp s.com/train/reservatio ns.

I hope that helps!

Best regards,

Many thanks for your prompt response. My apologies, I didn't reply sooner.

Thanks for the detailed response. I have a few more queries.

1. Are there limited number of tickets for Mt. Titlis on a particular day? If not, I would prefer to buy the ticket on the particular day of visit.

2. I read that Mt. Stanserhorn is closed during this period (24th to 26th November). Can you please confirm if this is true? If true, can you please suggest some place to visit from Lucerne.

Hi Nitesh,

You can buy the tickets to Titlis on the day itself or online in advance.
Mt Titlis: www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis/tickets

The cable car to Stanserhorn operates from 13 April to 17 November 2019: www.myswissalps.com/st anserhorn/gettingthere. Unfortunately it will be closed during your visit.

Kind regards,
