Hi, We are planning a 7 to 8 day trip and is considering the following. Taking the train from Frankfurt and going back via Paris

- 2 to 3 nights in Lucerne (Mt. Titlis, Mt Rigi and local sightseeing)

- 2 nights in Interlaken (Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald etc)

and 2 to 3 nights either in Zermatt or Montreux (This is the confusing bit as I am not sure which would be better). We are going onwards to Paris via Geneva

We are family of four with grown up kids (almost teen/adult)

Is there any advantage of doing this in the reverse? i.e: going to Paris first and then going counter clockwise back to Frankfurt.

Thanks all - Krisp

Hello KrispY and Welcome to MySwissAlps

It is not possible for someone to tell you which is better for you - Montreux or Zermatt. They are quite different. You will need to make up your own mind. See:

I doubt it makes much difference which direction you travel but see:

Based on your personal itinerary you should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to the “Where it's valid" page for all available passes. Be sure to check those pages for each pass you are considering. Study the map AND read all the text on those pages to fully understand what is covered by the respective pass.

For checking timetables and finding fares see www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/checking-train-timetables.
