I am planning on taking the 5:32 train from Lucerne to Chur on July 2oth to reach the Bernina express down to Lugano at 8:30. I am planning on purchasing the swiss travel pass for my stay. Since I am on a tight schedule, I wanted to make sure I had tickets ahead of time. I am trying to make seat reservations for the Lucerne to the Chur train ride, but am running into some confusion. I have looked at tickets on trainline and other train websites, but can’t seem to make a reservation only.

Reservations are not possible on that train (and most Swiss trains).I think you are looking at the 05:28 train? https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable

It won’t be a busy train at that time in the morning (a bit early for businessmen I think). I would not be concerned – you’ll have a seat.

Another nice option from Lucerne to Lugano is the Gotthard Panoramic Express (much quicker as well!)

I plan on basing in Lauterbrunnen and go for gimmewal, schuzhorn, or jungfau, schnitzel platte/ Lauterbrunnen falls. I also plan on possibly going to the canyon walk.

With any of these plans would you advice booking anything prior to leaving?

1. Gimmewal? = Gimmelwald
2. Schuzhorn? = Schilthorn?
3. Schnitzel platte? = Schynige Platte?

You can’t and dont need to reserve on main line Swiss trains. Luzern – Chur will be an easy walk-on sitaution especially so early in the morning.

You don’t really need to reserve mountain railway trips, although there are sometimes queuing systems.
