    Hi

I am planning a day trip from Lucerne to Swiss Miniature. I’m aware that i need to reach Lugano and then Melide station. Would my Swiss Travel Pass cover the entire trip or are some sections not covered? The map shows some part of the journey in dotted red – does it mean i need to buy another ticket to cover that segment of the journey and change some trains in between? Thanks in advance.

Hi Chintanbhans, and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I think you are confusing dotted red lines with dashed red lines.

Dashed red lines on the map are railway tunnels, all of which are on routes that are free with the Swiss Travel Pass.

The whole route Luzern to Melide is free with the Swiss Travel Pass.

The default route, which is the fastest route, goes through the Gotthard-Basistunnel for 57 km. If you would like to experience a more scenic option either on the way to Lugano or the way back, plan your trip to travel via Göshenen.

The route via Göschenen is a scenic route that tackles the mountains and transports you through stunning scenery instead of zooming underneath it in a very long tunnel. The scenic route takes about an hour-and-a-half longer than the Gotthard-Basistunnel route.

You can plan this trip using the Swiss Timetable:
