Hi I will be exploring Lucerne for the first time and I have heard of the festival in Kerns. I will be travelling from Lucerne to Kerns by train. Is the travel to Kerns covered by the Lucerne Day Pass? What does Lucerne’s zone 101,201,202,203 mean?

Regards and Thanks in advance, Nicky

Hi Nicky! Could you tell me what you mean with the Lucerne Day Pass? Is this what you’re referring to, or do you have another pass in mind?

By the way, from your other posts I understand that you consider the Swiss Saver Flexi Pass. Please note that this also provides free traveling (on a free travel day) or discounts (on the remaining days) in public transportation in and from Lucerne.

    Hi Annika!

It is the Day Pass for unlimited travel within zones 101, 201, 202 and 203 of the “Passepartout” tariff community which can be purchased with a City-city ticket

Hello Nicky. I think you’re referring to the zones mentioned at this Passepartout map. You can either take a single Passepartout card or a Passepartout day card. As you can see, the 4 zones 101, 201, 924 and 972 will get you from Lucerne to Kerns. So yes, a 4 day Passepartout day card will cover travel to Kerns. The timetable will provide these specifics too. But please note that you don’t need this if you use a free travel day with your Swiss Saver Flexi Pass, or that you can get yourself a 50% reduced day card if you travel on one of the remaining days.
