Hi Saimey,
Welcome to MySwissAlps.
I think it’s possible to do a day trip to Lugano from Lake Como.
Based on your plans, I would start with Montre Bre in the morning then proceed to Monte San Salvatore after lunch. From the Monte San Salvatore base station, you can walk to the Paradiso boat dock and take a boat trip around Lake Lugano.
Here are the links to help you plan your day trip:

If so you could take a local train direct to Lugano Paradiso, and go straight up Monte S Salvatore first. On returning to Paradiso you could go to the boat landing stage and get on a boat to Gandria, before doing Lugano and Monte Bre in the afternoon.
Between Chiasso and Lugano you will also find Melide which is home to the fabulous Swissminiatur miniature Switzerland.

This means you can start your day according to my suggestion, as there are two local trains per hour between Como and Lugano Paradiso (routes S10 and RE80)
For example you could depart Como at 08.23 (RE80) reaching Paradiso at 08.53.
It is 5 minutes walk from Paradiso railway station to the San Salvatore funicular railway station. The funicular operates every 30 minutes from 09.00 each day
On returning down to the bottom, it is then a 6 minute walk to the lake boat landing stage.
Boats leave the Paradiso landing stage at 11.22 and hourly after that for the circuit to Gandria and back to Lugano
SaimeyParticipant6 posts1 June 2022 at 16:15:40 #942628Thank you so much for all your help. What time does the last train leave? As I need to return to como the same evening. I’ll set off early to make the most out of the day.

Removed userParticipant72625 posts1 June 2022 at 19:11:41 #942631There are different train stations in Como. From Como San Giovanni station there are direct trains to Lugano Paradiso at 8.10, 8:23, 9:10, 9:23 etc. The route takes around 40 mins according to the timetable.
Let us know if you need help understanding the timetable. At http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable there is a great guide, which explains it in detail.
Take care,
Ildiko
