Going to Switzerland next July. Plan to do 3 nights in Davos and then on to either Lugano or Locarno. Cant make up my mind. Any advice please.

My wife and I, or I alone, have stayed in both. Once or twice in Lugano; many times in Locarno. By a large margin, we prefer Locarno. We did certainly enjoy Lugano, but Locarno worked more comfortably for us. Be sure to visit the Madonna del Sasso.

Not sure how to say it in a few words, but we found it to be easier to access and see or experience the good things in Locarno.

Hello,

So you have decided to stay in Locarno. Good choice. Locarno only has about 15,000 souls, less than a quarter than Lugano, and from Locarno you are closer to the valleys running north from there, like the Maggia and the Verzasca. Step back in time in the latter, and don’t miss the bridge at Lavertezzo. Having said this, you should do a day trip to Lugano, and more importantly, its lake and the mountains and the villages (like Gandria and Morcote) along its shores.
