    Hi everyone,

We are travelling from Lugano to Lucerne on 14th July. We plan to take the local trains via Göschenen and Airolo. We hope these wouldn’t go through the tunnel – and we can view the scenery.

We were wondering if there is any way to reserve seats on the ferry from Fluelen to Lucerne. We have already purchased the swiss travel system 8 day pass – so wont need to buy tickets for the route.

    Thanks & regards,

    Anustup

    Hi Anustup,

That’s correct, the local trains won’t use the long Gotthard Tunnel, so if you’re traveling via Göschenen you’ll definitely be able to enjoy the views. You can’t reserve seats for the boat to Flüelen. Just show up in time at the boat dock in Lucerne and all will be fine.

    Hi Anustup,

I think Annika meant show up at the boat at Flüelen. 😉 The boats have heaps of room. If downstairs is crowded you can always pay for an upgrade to gain access to the 1st Class Upper deck.

Most, but not all departures are the traditional paddle wheel steamers which are neat and you get to watch the engine running. The timetable shows a little picture of a paddle steamer where appropriate. Timetable is at http://www.lakelucerne.ch/fil eadmin/lakelucerne/con tent/Dokumente_Downloa ds_PDF/01_Fahrplan-Preise/01_Fahrplan/Sai sonaler_Fahrplan/2017/ 2017_Fahrplan_Sommer_K b.pdf
