How much will it be for two 1st class tickets on the Gotthard Panorama Express from Lugano to Fuelen including the steamboat ride from Fluelen to Lucerne?Do We have to buy the boat tickets separately or its included with the train as a package?

what would be the best website(s) to buy the tickets online?

ALSO, Would buying the Swiss Travel Pass better and cheaper? I would later be traveling from Lucerne to Bern, Bern to Lauterbrunnen and back to Bern, and Bern to Zurich on different days?

    Thank you.

    Hi Manfredi27,

To travel the entire stretch of the Gotthard Panorama Express from Lugano to Lucerne via Flüelen (or vice versa), you need a valid 1st class ticket for the train journey between Lugano and Flüelen, and a valid 2nd class or 1st class ticket for the boat journey between Flüelen and Lucerne. Details about the route is explained here: http://www.myswissalps.com/gotthardpanoramaexpress

In addition to tickets, you need to pay a compulsory supplement for seat reservation.

You can purchase a single ticket for the entire journey but would need to pay an upgrade for the train part of the journey if you purchase a 2nd class ticket. In most cases, it would be cheaper to get a railpass such as the Swiss Travel Pass.

For comparison,a single ticket from Lugano to Lucerne based on 1st class train and 2nd class boat journey would roughly cost about CHF129.00 plus supplement.

If you have a 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass, you just need to pay for the upgrade to 1st class for the train journey between Lugano and Flüelen. This would be about CHF29.50. Find more sample pricing here: http://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/panoramareisen/gotthard-panorama-express/purchasing.html

As you are planning to travel extensively with the train for 6 days, it make sense to get a railpass instead of buying single tickets for each journey. I personally think a Swiss Travel Pass would be ideal for your trip: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass

Can you bring luggage into the Gotthard Panorama Express? are there overhead compartments? or is the luggage collected and store some where in the train? or is there a specific location to store the luggage during the trip?
