We are planning to travel lugano to Wengen via the Centrovalli (domodossola) route. This is 6-7 hours depending whether we also take the scenic route between Brig and Speitz. Any suggestions where we should break the journey for a few hours and lunch? Brig or domodossola perhaps?

Hi Sydneyjen,

For a more lively area the square in Brig would be a nice spot. Cross the street from the train station straight into the Bahnhofstrasse, and you’ll reach it within 4 minutes. Another option if you take the local train to Spiez is to get off in Ausserberg and have lunch at the restaurant terrace across the street. Make sure they’re open when you’re there as there won’t be other options: http://www.hotel-bahnhof.com.

For a lunch is Domodossola (Italy) much cheaper than a lunch in Switserland. In Italy you can pay with cart or with Euro. From the station you can walk in 10 minutes to the small city centre.

Aussserberg is also nice, with nice few on the Rhone Valley.
