    HI,

We are coming to Geneva on the 4th of Aug and thinking of taking the Golden Express from Montreux to Spiez. We are a family of 4 and have 2 big check in bags and 2 cabin bags.

Just wanted to ask if luggage is allowed on the train and also if advance reservation is needed for travel. We have a valid Swiss Travel Pass. We are not sure of the exact time. We will be able to board the train as there might be delay in the flight schedule and so no planning ahead is difficult.

    Thanks

    Susheel

    Hi Susheel,

Yes, you can take your luggage with you onboard the Golden Pass train. There is usually space to store your luggage at both ends of each train carriage. You can find more information about travelling with luggage on Swiss trains here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/luggage

Seat reservation is not necessary to ride the Golden Pass but recommended on popular route such as between Montreux to Zweisimmen. However it might not make sense to book seats if you are unsure about your exact time of arrival. I don’t think this will be a big issue though as there are regular Golden Pass trains from Montreux and Zweisimmen.

Hope this addresses your concerns. Let us know if you need more info.

    Regards,

    Anna

The train from Montreux runs every hour (like most Swiss railways routes) through the day. Reservation is not obligatory so it is best to not reserve in advance in your case.
