Hi Bill and Welcome to MySwissAlps

I’m not sure it would be a wise move to try to take a suitcase. May be possible on the cog wheel and cable car but the 4 seater gondolas down to Kriens are pretty cosy.

Then again people (hikers) take back packs so I guess it depends on how big your suitcase is.

Where are you coming from on your way to Luzern?

    Hi Bill260,

The other option would be to leave your luggage at a train station locker (perhaps Luzern works for you?) before you go up to Mt. Pilatus.

thank you for the information. yes we are coming up from Interlaken and it seems that Pilatus was on the way to Luzern (before we drop suitcase at hotel). do you know if Alpnachsad has storage lockers? in that case we will backtrack from Luzern to pickup luggage after Pilatus. with swiss travel pass is the cable car and gondola free? thanks again.

    Hi Bill260,

I’m fairly certain that Alpnachstad has no storage lockers – it is a very small station. Luzern is less than 20 minutes from Alpnachstad if you do decide to leave your luggage there.

You can also have your luggage sent to Luzern for a fee without you and picked up later that day – read more about that here.

Yes, in 2017 the Swiss Travel Pass covers your entire trip to Mt. Pilatus (you will have to go to the ticket office and get a ticket with barcode though (but no charges). From 2018 it will be 50% discounted. Read all about what is covered by the Swiss Travel Pass here.

    Hi Bill,

If you go to Luzern first then you can do the entire Golden Round Tour (including boat to/from Alpnachstad) to Pilatus for free with the Swiss Travel Pass. Highly recommended. See http://www.myswissalps.com/pi latus
