Hi Jenallan18,
I’ve never seen specific storage areas on the boats for luggage – but there are certainly areas where you can put your luggage tucked away somewhere.
People do this somewhat regularly and no the crew won’t be that bothered by it. 🙂 It might be a bit of a hassle for you if they are large/heavy of course. The boats I’ve been on all had gangplanks to roll on.

Thanks Lucas for your quick reply. Switzerland seems very ‘traveler-friendly’ and I’m assuming that security is ok too if we leave them ‘tucked away unattended’ Jenallan18

Normally yes it should be. 🙂 I never worry about it on trains or boats etc – just keep passports and valuables on you.

Great, thanks Lucas. If Switzerland is as helpful and friendly as this forum has been we are in for a wonderful treat 🙂

It usually is! Most people here talk about how helpful the Swiss have been when they holiday here.

Luggage “tucked away” on paddle steamer between Flüelen and Lucerne. flic.kr/p/Wgk6YV It’s right next to where the gangplank goes.

Thanks heaps Rock Oyster. Looks like we won’t be the only ones! Also looks like you had a great trip there. Where did you sail? Jenallan18

As we boarded the crew just directed anyone with luggage to add it to the heap.
We were on our way from Lugano to Lucerne. The boat trip between Flüelen and Lucerne was part of the Gotthard Panorama Express route. The scenery from the paddle steamer is splendid.
We also did lake cruises on Lake Lugano and the Bodensee out of Konstanz.
