    Hello!

We are planning on leaving Lauterbrunnen by 9AM and traveling by train to Bern next September. In Bern we want to do a scavenger hunt (approx. 2 hours is recommended), grab a quick lunch and train to Broc-Fabrique to tour Maison Callier. I cannot find the schedule yet but it looks like a direct train will be operational by then. The Callier website state last ticket sold is 5PM. If we are there by 5 are we guaranteed to get in or could they be too crowded and stop selling tickets?

We will stay in Gruyers that evening and hope to do a 9:45 AM Alpine Cheese tour if it is available in English about 30 minutes outside of town. We will then return to Gruyers to pick up our luggage and travel to Montreux. The Chillon Castle website states last ticket sold is 6PM. Our hotel is a 15 min walk to the castle. I have the same question for there….do they ever sell out or are we assured of a ticket if there by 6?

We will have a Swiss Travel pass but it looks like we could travel faster if we rent a car in Interlaken. Not really wanting to do this but if it helps us get all this in then we will.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

    Rita

    Hi Rita,

Tickets to Maison Cailler and Chillon Castle seldom run out. You can book your tickets online:

However you should take note of the the waiting time. If there are too many visitors, you might have to wait a while before you are allowed admission. Please also consider the operating hours when you plan your trips. Generally there is a cut-off time for admission into Maison Cailler and Chillon Castle. If possible plan your arrival early.

To get to Maison Cailler from Bern you can take a train directly to Broc Village (about 1 hr 15 mins journey). From Broc Village, there are regular bus services to the medieval town of Gruyeres (10 mins journey). You can also purchase tickets to the cheese factory online: http://www.myswissalps.com/lamaisondugruyere/tickets.

From Gruyeres you can easily reach Montreux by train via Montbovon in 1 hr 13 mins. I think if you plan your schedule carefully you should be able to reach Montreux with enough time to explore the castle and the surrounding areas.

If you plan to drive from Interlaken instead of taking the train, you can find information about car rentals and practical driving tips here: http://www.myswissalps.com/car

    Regards,

    Anna
