Hi,

I have recently joined and am in awe of your expertise – thank you.

Can you advise where I can get a good road / rail map of Switzerland, and also local maps of Bettmeralp and surrounding areas?

Have you some good walking routes from Bettmeralp? We will be there for about 2+ weeks from mid August.

The official Swiss walking maps are very good – I have quite a collection. You should be able to buy a traditional paper map in a local newsagent or book shop on arrival.

I was in a rush earlier. With a bit more time I can give some more tips:

Bettmeralp is covered by the 1:33333 scale tear resistant hiking map number 3324T, or 1:50000 scale map 264T

Another thing you can do is a combination of mobile digital technology and tradition. Most railway stations and cable car stations have a hiking map on a large sign post. You can take a photograph with a digital camera or phone to carry with you.
