    Hi,

We plan to go zermatt in September for 3days. We afraid weather not good to Matterhorn & Gornegrat. We must plan other option. Where can we cover for day trip ? Such , Montreux and Geneva ? Or Gruyere for La Maison Du Gruyere & cheese making ? Why i do not mention Interlaken and Launterbrunnen because, after Zermatt, we will stay that 2 places.

    Please advise.

    Thank you.

    Hi Angel,

It’s always a good idea to have back-up plans for possible bad weather days. Fortunately there are lots of day trip options from Zermatt that you can add to your Plan B. Some personal suggestion below:

Brig is about 1 hour and 20 mins away from Zermatt by train so makes a perfect half-day or full day excursion. You can combine this with a trip to Brigerbad, which is the next town well-known in the area for its thermal pools.

Montreux is about 2.5 hours away from Zermatt by train so definitely do-able as a day trip. In addition, you can plan quick stops in Visp and Sion, enroute to or on the way back from your destination.

Be sure to use the SBB timetable to plan your journeys.

    Regards,

    Anna
