Hi Nolen,
Welcome to MySwissAlps!
You can find a list of 4- to 5-star hotels in Zermatt from this link: http://www.myswissalps.com/zermatt/hotels
I’m not too sure if any of the hotels in Zermatt have carollers to sing for their guests during Christmas, but you are likely to find them at the 2 churches in Zermatt on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Also, the weeks preceding Christmas is usually festive with numerous events planned out for visitors and travellers including a Christmas market. Last year there was a also a Christmas Tuba concert in the village.
Zermatt is a car-free village. You can practically travel everywhere on foot or use the local electric shuttle buggies. At Christmastime, the mountain railway and cable car operators and hotels usually offer exciting winter and Christmas packages for guests. I reckon you won’t run out of things to do winter 🙂

There is only one Swiss village with a Matterhorn view and that is Zermatt. Zermatt is famous for being a ‘high class’ resort with many famous 4 and 5 star hotels, where lots of famous people come to stay. Carol singing is not really a big thing, nor is there a Christmas market (these take place mainly in lowland cities) but Zermatt is very festive at Christmas just like any ski resort in winter. Staying at Chritmas in a 4 or 5 star hotel will cost a lot of money.

Major markets in Switzerland are Montreux and Basel, although Zürich is pretty good.
